Job Summary:
The Analytical Chemist facilitates and assists in execution of systems to assure GMP compliance for all relevant operations carried out within and for PharmaForm, LLC. This function includes:
- Performs basic to advanced experiments and general laboratory duties
- Ensures constant improvement of laboratory practices
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include the daily execution of activities as assigned including, but not limited to, the following:
- Assists in creating and maintaining an atmosphere conducive to learning, harmony, and teamwork
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols and other instructions from management
- Performs assigned experiments accurately, consistently, and in a timely manner
- Practices good notebook keeping and labeling
- Performs simple data analysis using Excel spreadsheets and other necessary tools
- Assists higher level Chemists with assigned projects
- Complies with all laboratory safety guidelines including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Maintains general cleanliness of the lab, including personal bench space and common use areas
- Completes all other tasks and duties assigned as perceived and agreed upon by senior management
- May assist with method development and method validation
- May write/revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and methods when necessary
Important Skills and Abilities:
- Basic to advanced laboratory techniques, including but not limited to weighing, volumetric measurement, solution preparation, titrations, and glassware cleaning
- Ability to follow procedures and instructions
- Ability to learn and operate analytical instruments
- Discipline to stay focused and complete specific tasks
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
- Troubleshooting skills and datet interpretation
- Has respect for others and a cooperative attitude
- Highly motivated, self-starter with a high energy level
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:
- Analytical instruments (such as analytical balance, pH meter, HPLC, UV-Vis, Dissolution Machines)
- Computer
- Microsoft programs (e.g., Word, Excel)
- Calculators
- Other computer programs as needed
Seriousness of Error
Failure in job performance or judgment could and does have serious impact product quality, production personnel, company clients and partners, and company profitability. The inability to work with others can lead to morale problems.
Knowledge/ Education/ Work experience:
- Knowledge of basic scientific principles and practices
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science
- 3-5 years experience preferred
Safety & Environmental:
- Must comply with all safety regulations including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Mechanical/Electrical/Fire Hazards encountered in laboratory areas
- May require long periods of standing/sitting
Contact with others:
- Internal contact includes daily contact with all personnel of PharmaForm and regular contact with management
- External contact not permitted without authorization from Management
Exceptional Skills:

- Improvement of any aspect of the laboratory process
- Detailed attention to data trending
- In-depth knowledge of analytical instruments (hardware and software) or exceptional Information Technology skills
- Good data interpretation, technical writing and method development skills
- Establish/maintain a relationship with any agency that would benefit Pharmaform, LLC
- Good attitude, work ethic, and natural leadership
- Achievement of an advanced degree
Supervisory Duties:
- Peer-policing of compliance with safety regulations, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and general laboratory practices
- Budgeting hours
- Training
- Inspection
Supervision:
The Section Manager delegates day-to-day operations and decision making. The Laboratory Management Team provides meaningful direction and decision making.
