Job Summary:
The Formulation Engineer assists in the design and development of drug delivery systems.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include the daily execution of activities as assigned including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Complies with PharmaForm SOP and GMP practices in documentation and equipment operation
  • Operates equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and equipment manuals; performs equipment maintenance
  • Understands operational mechanisms of equipment
  • Performs training on equipment SOPs and operation
  • Keeps working area clean and organized
  • Follows specific instructions to conduct experimental protocols
  • Assists in the design of experiments
  • Makes important observations while conducting detailed experimentation
  • Interprets experimental observations according to sound scientific principles
  • Provides feedback to management on project progress, employee performance and general operations

  • Excellent math and chemistry skills
  • Advanced understanding of the functionality and chemistry of excipients and drug substances
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
  • Manages personal and interpersonal stress
  • Has the discipline to stay focused and complete specific tasks
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strictly follows the company policy on client confidentiality
Seriousness of Error:
The inability to work well with others can lead to high employee turnover and morale problems. Failure to follow GMPs and SOPs can lead to product failure and injury to others.

Knowledge/ Education/ Work Experience:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Pharmaceutical Engineering
Safety & Environmental:
  • Must comply with all safety regulations including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Mechanical/Electrical/Fire Hazards encountered in laboratory areas
  • May require long periods of standing/sitting
Contact With Others:
  • Internal contact includes daily contact with all personnel of PharmaForm
  • Frequent external contact with vendors
  • External contact with clients requires manager approval

Supervisory Duties:
May supervise Formulation Technicians and/or Formulation Scientists.

Supervision:
The Formulation Engineer requires guidance by project leaders.
