Liquid-Filled Hard Gelatin & HPMC Capsule Technologies
Liquid-filled capsule technology can be used for liquid and semi-solid fills into two-piece gelatin or HPMC capsules.
The technology is a useful solution for formulation and delivery of difficult APIs not suitable for conventional
solid dosage forms. Liquid-filled capsules are an economical alternative to expensive soft-gel manufacturing
techniques, allowing for rapid evaluation of drug candidates in early clinical studies.
Liquid-filled capsules are a suitable technology for:
- Insoluble, poorly bioavailable compounds

- Potent compounds

- Low melting point molecules

- Molecules susceptible to oxidation

Liquid-filled capsules are available in a range of sizes and PharmaForm can develop liquid-filled capsules in either banded or unbranded formats. PharmaForm supports manufacturing of liquid-filled capsules from proof of concept to scale up. Following early-phase drug development, liquid-filled capsules can be easily converted to soft-gel dosage forms for scale-up and commercialization.
